What you can see here
The majority of this gallery contains a mixture of images of wild birds taken from around England. The birds, from the smallest wren to the large gannets and swans, have been found wild in various habitats from woodlands, reedbeds, rivers, lakes, cliffs and in the sea. To make it easier to view the gallery has been split into sections of photos as described here:
- Auks are small to medium sized seabirds with long, barrel shaped bodies, short tails, small wings and short legs. They include the puffins guillemots and razorbills
- The northern gannets are one of the largest seabirds in the North Atlantic found breeding on cliffs around the coast. Images of these majestic birds can be seen in the gallery Gannets
- Cormorants, Shags, Oystercatchers and Sea Ducks are a mixture of freshwater and sea water birds
- Gulls are small to large seabirds whereas the terns are smaller and slender. All are migratory and images of some of their visits to the country can be seen in Gulls and terns
