Bulbs and tubers
You may be familiar with planting flowering bulbs in gardens but there are also many wild flowers that grow and spread by bulb. They are most commonly found growing in woodlands where they remain dormant whilst the trees are in leaf and over winter before appearing in early Spring before the trees are out again.
