Aquatic invertebrates
Around the United Kingdom there are multiple watery habitats, from marine rock pools of the sea to freshwater ponds, lakes, streams and rivers. Each of these will contain its' own unique variety of invertebrates from insects to crabs and molluscs.

This gallery of aquatic invertebrates contains macro and close up images of some of the smaller life that is found dependent on water around the British Isles. It includes the diving beetles in a pond the hermit crabs, acorn anemones, limpets and barnacles from rock pools along the coast to the velvet swimmer crabs temporarily captured in a net
The majority of these have been taken with the animal showing natural behaviours in their habitats. Some photos however include insects or crabs that have been temporarily caught in a net before being released back into the wild unharmed
