Captive birds
Many different zoos and collections keep captive birds for a variety of different reasons including for breeding purposes to conserve the wild populations, for pets or rescue birds
In this gallery
This gallery contains photos of birds that live in captivity. This includes birds ranging from the brightly coloured parrots and lovebirds through miscellaneous game birds including brightly coloured partridges to the larger birds of the emus and rheas.
Some of these birds have been bred in zoo collections and some the background isn't known and have come to zoos as rescue birds as they cannot be released. Many of these birds have been taken at Tropiquaria zoo near to Watchet in Somerset
